Help people work better together.

A team can have capable people and a shared goal yet still struggle to work well together.
Information gets lost. Disagreements remain unresolved. Responsibilities are unclear. People develop different explanations for the same problem, and those differences begin to affect the work.
I work with teams and leadership groups to examine what is happening between people and how it affects their ability to work together.
What team difficulties can look like
One person may believe decisions are being made too slowly; another may feel excluded from those decisions. A manager may think expectations are obvious, while team members are working from different understandings.
Each person may have a reasonable explanation for what is happening, yet the differences between those explanations can make it difficult for the team to function well. Frustration builds, conversations become less productive and the work suffers.
What may need attention
- Communication and shared expectations.
- Trust and working relationships.
- Disagreement and unresolved conflict.
- Roles, responsibilities and collaboration.
- How people respond under pressure.
- Leadership within the team.
- Team dynamics during change.
- The relationship between people and performance.
Making room for a useful conversation
Facilitated discussion can help a team describe what is happening, raise issues that have been difficult to discuss, clarify expectations and consider practical changes to the way it works.
The aim is not to make everyone agree or to keep the peace at all costs. It is to help the team discuss what is getting in the way, understand where people differ and agree on how to work together more effectively.
