Working with the people who make a school.

Schools bring together leaders, teachers, support staff, learners, parents, governing bodies and communities.

Each has a part to play, but their expectations, responsibilities and interests do not always coincide. The pressure of day-to-day work can make difficult conversations harder.

A change in staff responsibilities may create tension. A concern about performance may turn into a relationship problem. Different expectations between staff members or groups may affect communication and collaboration.

I work with school leaders, leadership teams and staff groups when relationships become strained, communication breaks down, change creates uncertainty or a people-related concern proves difficult to resolve.

Areas we might work on

  • Communication between people and groups.
  • Trust, relationships and disagreement.
  • Leadership and team dynamics.
  • Staff development and behaviour under pressure.
  • Different expectations and perspectives.
  • Change, school culture and collaboration.

Start with the school's situation

We begin by clarifying the concern, the people and responsibilities involved, and what the school needs to address. Depending on the situation, the work may involve a facilitated conversation, support for a leader or work with a staff or leadership group.

The aim is to help people discuss the issue constructively, understand different perspectives and decide what may need to change. The work is shaped by the school’s circumstances and agreed objectives, with appropriate attention to roles, responsibilities and existing procedures.
