Organisational problems are not always solved by changing a process.

Clear processes and objectives matter, but they do not remove the challenges of working together.

Different departments may have competing priorities. A performance issue may persist despite a formal process. A change may be understood differently by the people expected to carry it out.

Sometimes the difficulty lies not in the process itself, but in how people interpret it, respond to it or experience its consequences.

I work with organisations, leaders, management teams and HR or people-development functions when the relationship between people, performance and organisational arrangements needs closer attention.

Situations we might explore

  • Leadership and management challenges.
  • Difficult workplace relationships.
  • Communication and competing expectations.
  • Conflict and trust.
  • People and performance.
  • Team dynamics and collaboration.
  • Organisational change and uncertainty.
  • The gap between formal processes and how people experience them.

Understanding both the system and the people in it

My background in law, labour relations, human resources, management and leadership gives me experience of the structures and responsibilities that shape organisational life. It also informs my interest in how people experience those structures, interpret what happens and respond to one another.

Depending on the need, the work may involve coaching, consulting, facilitation or leadership development. The starting point is to establish what is happening, how it affects the people and the work, and what kind of support would be appropriate.
